I am sure this has been discussed many of times, I searched briefly and could find a match for my scenario. Sorry if this has been discussed to death already.
I finally took the plunge and installed WHS2011 to replace V1. I haven't put much thought into these two WD20EARS drives since I bought them a few years back. I remember reading a little about the Advanced Format issue with V1 so I had them both jumpered on pins 7/8 and noticed no issues these last few years.
So I performed a clean install on a different WD Black 1tb drive, updated and then installed Stablebit Drivepool & Scanner. I took the jumpers off and formated within windows disk management. I set the sector drop down from DEFAULT to 4096k. They show up fine on the system and no issues even though I haven't really used them yet to test speed.
My concern is both these WD20EARS show up under Stablebit / Disk Details as " drive not reporting advanced format " and sector size 512bytes.
My only step I tried was to download the WD alignment tool (Acronis) which I installed on the server and then proceeded to run it. It showed those two drives as already aligned and that they were Advanced Format.
Do I have a problem since WHS2011/Stablebit displays them as sector size 512 and NON advanced format but the alignment tool shows them as advanced format & aligned already? Help please, I loaded a screen snap shot. Thanks.
PS - I forgot to mention I do have another WD Green drive I pulled out of a WD external drive , it is not a WD20EARS but it DOES show up as Advanced Format under the console/stablebit details area. If that helps.
