New To Whs, Help With Client Backup

Okay so I'm new to WHS and just hacked together a WHS box. The initial reason for WHS was for centralized storage of family pictures and movies etc. So all can access whenever they need it.

But since installing WHS and learning all the very cool features i decided to add client backup to the mix.

Firstly I don't quite understand what "client backup" is and if someone can explain. I have 3 Computers at home each running windows 7 x64 and 2 have minimum 300GB each of data (OS, apps, games, data etc) and so that's easy 600GB of backup I only have 2TB (500GB Mirror and 1.5TB Mirror) I don't get how this will work? The backup alone will eat up a good chunk of the 2TB and if i keep like 2 I'm all out of space fast and that not including the 3rd PC.

I don't think i'm understanding how it works so if someone can give a detailed explication. I know it takes a snapshot of the HDD in case of hardware failure or virus.

Secondly since i don't really want a "full" client backup based on the above information. I just set WHS to backup the Users folder since that's where all the data I want is kept. Is this good practice?

If a PC has a hardware failure or virus I would just reformat and start over. I know i could use the backup to restore to an older date but that's taking a huge chunk of space that i don't want to waste and plus I format every 2 years or so to keep it running smooth.
