I have a HP MediaSmart server that went completely dead this weekend. I am guessing the power supply is toast. From what I see, my options are to replace the PS for $90-100, or get a whole new home server and transfer the files over (I have a bulky power supply that would not fit inside the case, but could theoretically power the server back up to get files off of it). I was hoping someone here would have an opinion on this dilemma.
If the recommendation is to upgrade, to which one? This is obviously not a mainstream product and the online reviews show it. They are sparse and varied between good and bad ratings. I would feel safest going with another HP, but if there are cheaper, just as reliable servers out there, I'd like to save money, too.
