I Received a notifications that there were some updates to install on my WHS2011 server.
I thought I would open the dashboard and take a look if everything was ok prior to installing the updates.
To my horror I found that the server has not backed up successfully since I don't know when, as the list only goes back as far as October 6th...
I have not received any notifications that there is a problem with server backups, and the user PC have been backing up correctly. I did recieve a notification that one of the laptops had not backed up for a week, but not that the server has not backed up in over 3 weeks.
The backup status for all the failed backups show "Mounting of the volumes in the backup failed.".
I did a search here and on Google, and was surprised to find very little information.
I went through "Customise Backup for the Server" again to make sure everything is correct, and tried a manual backup which also failed with the same error.
To see how bad it was I tried to restore some files from "The most recent Successful backup", but it would not even show me the list of files, and came up with the helpful message "An unknown error prevented the restore process from finishing".
So then I ran a "check and repair" on the backup drive, which found no errors. It did show that it is full with only 30MB left on a 3TB drive, but this normal.
I am backing up a total of around 2.5TB, with no single volume over 2TB, so there should be no issues there.
I have had this server running since may, any suggestions before I hose the backup drive and start fresh?
Thanks,
Peter.
