I just rebuilt my WHS 2011 server (i.e., reloaded the OS but kept all the shares and client backups that were on a 2nd disk, but cleared all the server backups).
How do I connect all the PCs back to the server in such a way that their previous backups are still there and can be accessed? Without doing anything to the PCs they can currently connect to the server via the Dashboard but the PCs aren't listed.
UPDATE: Problem fixed
In the Dashboard's "Computer and Backup" tab, if you click on the "Archived computer backups" line it will show the computers that have old backups (i.e., from before the server was rebuilt). Their Status is "Removed" which is misleading since the backups are still there. Anyhow, you can restore from those entries just like you can from the regular entries in the "Computer" section.
This is actually pretty easy once you realize you have to click on "Archived computer backups" to see the list (the "Computers" and "Server" lists by default show what's in them).
