So I have my own WHS 2011 box in addition to another WHS 2011 box in my father's office. I use hamachi to create a VPN tunnel between the two WHS boxes so they can backup to each other.
I'm setting up a new laptop for one of this employees, and one of the things I'd like to install is the connector software so that when the laptop is delivered, it will start to backup to the WHS at the office.
Problem is I'm configuring the laptop at my house. If I install the connector software in the usual manner, its going to find my local WHS. So I was thinking of turning off my WHS and installing the software, hoping it will find the WHS on the hamachi VPN.
Question is - when the laptop is delivered to the site, how do I know it will stay associated with the local server instead of mine, which will also be on the VPN? Does the connector software search for WHSes every time it starts up, or does it save IP information. Anyone have any pointers on this scenario?
