A drive in my WHS2011 server went down and took all the pictures of our son's first month of life with it.
The pictures were also on a client computer, but were recently deleted: after all, they were on the server, right?
I had StableBit Drive Pool installed, but it seems not to have gotten the pictures onto the other hard drive in the pool.
The only place from which I might hope to get the photos back, short of sending the dead drive out for expensive data recovery,
would be some client computer backups (the pictures were on a client computer hard drive for a while but were deleted after I installed DrivePool on the server.)
Problem is, I can't get WHS 2011 to start a restore. When I try and so so, the event log tells me:
The Windows Server Client Computer Backup Service failed at (149) of (e:\wssg_src\colorado_qfe\backup\pc\util\diskfile.cpp).
I suspect this is because I don't have a complete numbered set of Data.4096.*.dat files in the "Client Computer Backups" ServerFolder.
I have only 21 files numbered between 6 and 44, plus a DatabaseInfo.dat file.
I would be very happy if there were some way to trawl through those Data files for any .jpg files created in a particular date range.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
