Wsus Failure - Service Won't Run Or Uninstall

I have a WHS 2011 setup and have been running WSUS successfully for several months. However, when I tried to run it this week to check for new Updates, it failed.  Restarting the Service has no effect, and trying to uninstall it, with or without also uninstalling the actual Windows Updates, Database and Log files, also fails.

This is what I have done:

I have rebooted the Server and checked for any Windows Updates (there were none)

On opening the WSUS Service in the Console, I get the error messsage shown in the attached file. Clicking on 'Reset Server Node' makes no difference.

On opening the Server Manager, I see a Red X against 'File Services' and 'Windows Server Update Services'. Forcing the Service to Start, makes no difference.

In the Event Viewer, there are repeated Warning and Error messages, all with the Source of Windows Server Update Services

When I go to 'Remove Roles' and try to remove the WSUS Role, it attempts to do it, but fails, eventually giving a Fatal Error code of 0x80070643. When I Google this, most of the returns are related to Windows Security Essentials (which I don't have installed on the Server) or to corrupted .Net installs (I have run a Repair on the 4.5.1 .Net on the Server).

It might be that a recent Windows Update, or an update to the Drive Bender software that I have installed, but before I do a Server Restore, can anyone offer any solutions or ideas?
