I apologise if I have missed something, but have searched the forums at length to no avail.
I have a Win 8.1 laptop which is backing up to a newly commissioned 2011 Server. (Finally called it a day with my WHS).
I have installed 5 Win 7 machines to the server and the installation was without any problems, in fact so smooth it was alarming !!
The Win 8 machine however, having installed the connector software, appears to install without issue. It has access to the server shares, and dashboard, but will not back up.
The process starts, jumps immediately to 1% and then hangs a while before failing. I have tried installing and re-installing the connector software but to no avail.
The laptop is not running a UEFI drive, and I have patiently downloaded all the updates through Windows update.
Can I ask a couple of questions:
There is a hot fix which appears to relate to the issues with Win 8 systems and server 2011, but when I went to the Microsoft site, there were three options. It also warned of the perils of installing the hotfix incorrectly. Given the date that it was released has the "hotfix" now been included in the regular updates, and so do I need to install it separately.
There is a lot of reference as well to Server 2011 rollup 4, and updates for win 8. Again will these updates now be included in the regular updates that I have carried out.
I apologise if these are newbie questions, but would appreciate some guidance of where I might start to solve this issue.
Thanks
