All Server Hardware Setup Opinion

I have tried to make an ASUS desktop board work on Windows Home Server 2011 for about a year and continue to have problems that can only be resolved by reinstalling the entire OS which then promptly presents a totally new problem (frequent crashes, will not shutdown, freezes, etc.).  So, I would like to build another one from the ground up and use my old hardware for a new desktop.

For the new build, I would like to use a true server mobo and CPU that do not have server driver issues if that is at all possible.  The only other request would be to have USB 3.0 and at least two SATA 6.0gb/s ports.  If there's a card out there that would work for the USB 3.0 that would be fine as well.  I have mainly looked at two Supermicro server motherboards (MBD-X10SLH-F-O, C226 and MBD-X9SCM-F-O, C204) with Xeon E3-1200 processors. $400 is roughly what those combos run and if I can go cheaper that'd be great, but if that's the best option I can afford it.

If anyone has a build like this or has some information it would be greatly appreciated!
