It has been awhile since I have really been active here as I have been active elsewhere.
Short story, last spring bought a new laptop which came with Windows 8, not being a fan of 8 I went ahead and wiped it out and installed 7 on it and had it connected with no problems to Server 2012 r2 with essentials role installed.
Well the new server required a new set of tools to run remotely and they where not supported by Windows 7, So I restored my laptop back to 8 and upgraded it to 8.1 pro, and tried as I might to get it connected to the server (which are all on the domain and not in a workgroup) and able to download the connector software just fine from the server, it sees the server in "Select Server option" it sees the server from the Type the server address and when I click on next the following error message comes up " Cannot get information from Servername. Please contact administrator.
Ok, so I decided to try re-installing Windows 7 back on and the same error, back to Win8, completely fresh install and the same error.
Downloaded the connector software from Microsoft, un-install the old, rebooted, same thing. As I have 8 other computers connected with no problems I am out of ideas.
Checking the logs and there appears to be a trust issue, but searching the net and knowledge bases I have not come up with any solutions to this problem.
from the ClientDeploy.log does show the following: Failed to download Setup.cab from server and ClientDeploy: ErrorCode=1603
So any ideas as my next option maybe a complete server refresh and I don't wish to go that route.
