MSS Guru's,
I'm sure someone has encountered this before & this question has been asked, but I am not finding it.
I have an HP EX485, I have upgraded it according to Alex's article: Upgrading the HP EX485/487 MediaSmart Server: Removing the smoke and mirrors, although I had to veer off-course slightly due to the fact that my original "750 GB Seagate HD" cr@pped the bed and was having all kinds of read errors. I could load the WHS 2003 enough to know that the other hardware was working, but the drive is not reliable/stable enough to place a new OS on it. (I will place is in an "empty bay" and salvage off of it what I can)
I also installed a KVM Debug board (Totally worth the $80) http://www.mediasmartserver.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8066; so now I have VGA, PS2 Mouse & Keyboard.
Next, I created a copy of http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ - v5.2.8, from there I was able to run "Parted Magic" and from that platform I ran Benchmark tests, before and after swapping out my Celeron 440 for an E5200; & 2 GB Memory for a 4 GB G.Skill stick. All the benchmarks went fine.
Finally, I have a new WD 1TB HD and a new copy of WHS 2011, but when I try and run the install my EX485+ is asking for drivers; are the EX495 drivers close enough to work, where can I get them?
P.S. I also have seen and read part 2 to the "Smoke and mirrors" http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2011/04/25/upgrading-the-hp-ex485487-mediasmart-server-removing-the-smoke-and-mirrors-part-2/ but I didn't see anything about drivers.
Please assist an old blind man...
Thanks in advance, for your input.
Ron
