Is The Old Acer H340 Whs V1 Compatible With Newer Wd Red Hdds?

Thinking of replacing a failing WD EADS 2Tb Green HDD with one of the newer WD Red (server) 2Tb HDDs - is it just plug and play or was there some old thead about 4k vs 8k sector alignment issues (can't remember what it was nor pull up the search thread).

How about even a bigger 3Tb, or do I have to partition it into a 2Tb plus 1Tb partition for WHS v1?
