After doing a lot of research on what media player is best for my needs, I chose the WD TV live Plus (may not be available with all features outside of USA). Amazon.com had a good price, and with no tax and only shipping, this single item order was best placed with Amazon (through another retailer called 'RoKi Sales Support Team" . I placed the order and crossed my fingers......
A week and two days later, the package arrived in a US Postal service thin cardboard envelope. When opened there was a small brown box, and when opened, there was a power supply, remote control, cables for audio and basic video (all RCA), and two AAA batteries for the unit. When the unit was cut open from its bag, I nearly hit the roof!!!!! Not only was the unit the model before (with no network RJ54 jack) it was a completely beat up and REFURBISHED unit!!!!
Boy, I got on the phone to Amazon pronto! At the same time I emailed Roki sales about the problem. Roki came back and appologized for the problem, and will reimburse me for the player PLUS my return shipping. So I am only out the original shipping cost.
This saturday, the unit goes back to Roki.
Their excuse was that they order these parts from a "third party vendor". Seeing as they can't get the part number right, nor the latest version number, I think Roki is well below average.
Amazon did come through. I called them direct, explained the problem, and they said the media player is in their stock by the same part number and will send two day delivery. Plus, the following day (today) they would credit me for the shipping cost (which I see that they did already by 9:30 AM EST. Not too shabby..... Ok, its really nice, OK?????
If Roki does not come through, my Master Card will just suck the money from their pool and give it back to me, regardless of what Roki says. Have been down this route before. I do not take it lightly, but if Roki thinks they will burn me on the charges, they are very mistaken.... LOL!!!!
So, last night after the fiasco with the Media Player, I did crimp on some ends to the cable that ran under the floor. Plugged the "source" end into a Linksys Switch, and the other end (for the media player) into my laptop. All worked well. Got good through put on MPG2, but still having problems with the 1080p MOV files.
Any way, that is the latest!
Regards,
Mark.
