Hi everyone,
I have been using Lights-Out and WHS2011 on an HP Proliant server for about 1 year.
Aside from the server my network has a desktop, a laptop, some Logitech Squeezeplayers, an Xbox, a cheap Android tablet.
Lights-Out is set to monitor:
- The desktop & laptop as computers.
- Network load >15kb/s
- A "Lights Out Integration" plugin for Logitech Media Server, which writes a text file "C:\player.ON" , that is in turn monitored by Lights Out (I got it from this forum).
if the server does not find any of these conditions, it Hibernates, which is the behaviour that I want.
This has worked really well for the last year.
But for the last 24 hours, the server will not hibernate, and I am running out of ideas. Hibernation begins, and the server goes into hibernation... for about 15 seconds. Then it wakes up again, and the cycle continues.
I have tried:
- Rebooting the server
- Disabling computer monitoring.
- Increasing the network load to >100kb/s
- Disabling the Squeezeplayer monitoring
- The Xbox & tablet are powered down
I have looked in the server logs, and there are lots of entries, but nothing that makes much sense to me (or that seems related to waking the server up - though maybe I wouldn't recognise what I am looking for).
When I go into the Lights Out tab of the Dashboard, none of the 'monitored sources' lines are in bold blue, suggesting that my computers, Squeezeplayers, network load, etc are not responsible.
Lights Out is the latest version (I updated it last week, but the problem did not start then). I guess this constant starting & stopping is not good for the server, so I have disabled Lights Out, and the server is now running 24/7.
Please can anyone suggest where else I should be looking for the answer to this problem? Many thanks!
