Hello all,
I need your help in setting up my NAS (basically a glorified server with tons of storage), running Windows Home Sever 2011.
I have four hard drives.
A: HItachi 1TB
B: Hitachi 2TB
C: Hitachi 2TB
D: Seagate 3TB
The assembly went like a breeze, drives were recognized instantly, and.....WHS partitioned them.
I don't want that.
Here's what I'd envisioned:
A, unpartitioned, will host the OS, other system-critical software, programs, etc.
B and C (both unpartitioned), will be in RAID 1, containing irreplaceable data like family pics, some documents, etc,
D (I believe it HAS to be partitioned, since >2TB) will host data available from the cloud and other expendable data (iTunes and audible libraries, some ISO files, junk, etc).
Can someone please guide me (step by step will be much appreciated):
1. At the very least, how I can prevent WHS from partitioning A, B, and C. If I can prevent D from being partitioned, that'd be great. But not critical.
2. Can I unpartition A through D from WHS itself, or do I need to boot in DBAN or something similar and erase the partitions?
Many thanks!
