I am experiencing slow (really, really slow) server backups with WHS 2011 and am hoping someone has some pointers for where to start troubleshooting.
Client backups work fine, but sometimes server backups take >24 hours. They eventually DO complete successfully, as long as I am patient and leave the system alone.
This happens about every other backup, and when it works fine, the process takes about 30 minutes.
Configuration Details:
WHS 2011 running in a Virtual Machine (VMware Server), hosted by a Win7 system.
Client 1 is the Win7 system with multiple apps & data (and also hosts the VM)
Client 2 is a Win7 notebook
I realize that the VM environment may be contributing to the problem but since it is intermittent, I'm not sure. And - everything worked fine with this same general config on WHS v1.
Any thoughts?
thanks-
