This may be just me having a senior moment (or ten) but I can't get IIS to serve my web site. On my domain and QNAP NAS I just need to put the files in the appropriate folder and the top level index.html is picked up.
I made a test folder in c:\inetpub\wwwroot containing an index.html and tried to access it but got a 404.
So I went into IIS Manager, stopped the default web site and created a new one called test on port 80, pointing to the folder in wwwwroot. I still get the 404 and now I can't access the connect or remote web logon pages.
Stopping the test site and restarting default restores access to connect and remote web logon so IIS is clearly working.
Fumbling a bit further, it seems to be a problem with the application pool user and pass-through authentication.
Please could someone guide me in words of one syllable? Otherwise I'll have to buy a new NAS.....
