I'm having issues with my Acer H340 and adding additional drives with my Mediasonic 4-bay esata box. The H340 (via RDP) can see the new drives that I want to add in both the disk managment area as well as in the console under server storage. However, when I go to add the drives to the pool, I get the error "Drive initialization failure. Can't create partition". This case and drives work as I've used them on my Win7 box just fine. I also did a low-level format of all of the drives in the box to make sure they were completely blank, they still can't be added. I've tried deleteing the partition and reformating via RDP in WHS and the formatting fails. I have the Mediasonic box connected via the H340's esata port. I've tried with the original Marvell driver and the newest one I could find and no luck either way. I've tried formatting them in Win7 then trying to add them and no luck with that either.
When I get home tonight, I'm going to try to remove some of the rubber from the esata cable to see if that makes a difference but I'm not sure it will as the H340 can consistently see the drives and the box boots with the system just fine. I'll update if that works but in the interim, can anyone shed some light on some other possible solutions? I've spent about 3-4 days researching and trying to solve this issue.
I'm very frustrated at this point and am almost ready to take a hammer to the H340. Which suck as prior to this I loved the box and it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, I have only about 300GB of space left out of 4x 2TB internal drives. So, if anyone can help a guy out, it would be greatly appreciated.
