My WHS 2011 is acting strange…
I’ve lost ALL data on 4x2Tb discs, simultaneously and I haven’t deleted the files knowingly.
I have a total of 7 discs in my set up, 3 of these contains the “Serverfolders” within a DriveBender pool.
The other 4 are separately and outside the pool.
The first of these have a driveletter H and in the root of this disc I have added 1 folder called Film and under that 4 separate folders (Film1 to Film4).
Film1 contains the files stored on this disc.
The 2nd disc is the mounted under the folder Film2, using the Disc Management feature in the Control Panel
The 3rd is mounted under Film3 and the 4th is mounted under Film4.
This has been the only I WAY could get my PopCornHour mediaplayer to access all the drives as a “pool” (the network address is then \\Server15\Film)
I usually access the server via remote desktop or directly via the explorer in my clientcomputers.
2 days ago I was downloading subtitles for a TV-series and renaming the mkv and srt files to the same names.
Then I deleted the downloaded zip-files, and when returning to the folder above I saw nothing.
Absolutely nothing…
Only the driveletter H was visible
RDTed into the server and checked, same result…
Restarted the server, same result…
Went into Disc management and saw that mounts for Film2 to Film4 was gone L
Added a drive letter to the Film4 disc and the removed it and put it in an external case and connected it to my client, same result no files and properties say that there is 100% free disc space…
Started a recovery program, Recuva, and let it check this disc.
It found most of my files, less than 1.5Gb in size, but every file that is bigger than that (.m2ts) from my copied blurays are stated as impossible to recover.
Since I haven’t actively deleted any files and since also the mounting points are gone I suspect that there something bigger in play here.
ANY suggestions are most welcome!
