Hi all,
One of my older WD 2Tb EADS drives is developing bad sectors and running hot and looks like I would like to replace it soon. I was thinking of upgrading it to the newer 4Tb drives, but also worry about the 4K alignment issue.
Has anyone used the Seagate drives and their "Smart Align" sucessfully in a WHS v1 situation?
I'm assumming all the newer Seagate drives has this (its not specifically called out on the newer generation drives now) - does the ST4000DM000 have Smart Align?
Additionally, the 2nd problem is that its larger than 2Tb, but Seagate claims to have a DiscWizard software (compatible with WIndows Server 2003) that supposed to get around that. Has anyone used this or has any futher information about it?
I have seen the above posted thread about larger than 3Tb but I don't think I'm tech savy enough to make those modifications, additionally I'm running a Acer Aspire H340 which seems to have some problems with those modifications - I'd prefer something a little easier
Thanks.
