I am finally getting around to migrating from WHS v1 to 2011 and I have installed DrivePool. I just want to verify that this is the correct way to configure my system.
I have the following physical drives: my system drive (640GB), a 2TB data drive and a 3TB data drive. I have logical drives C (sys), D (3TB), E (2TB) and F (536G, residual of 640GB sys drive). My DrivePool drive is H. My two data drives are each about 75% full of content.
My ServerFolders are set up as WHS created in the default install and they are on F. Is this the correct procedure to follow?
- Delete existing Server Folders.
- Recreate Server Folders on pooled drive H.
- Copy data from existing data drives (D and E) into server folders on H. I assume this will take a while as it is about 4TB of data.
I believe I read that you have to be careful of Server backups of 3TB drives as there is a max of 2TB. Should I configure my shares, live Videos, Pictures, etc to ensure that none of these Server Folders are bigger than 2TB by using Videos1, Videos2, etc?
Anything else to be aware of?
