Dlna Streaming Vs Play From Share, And My Bluray Player

BACKGROUND
I have recently replaced my failing LG BD390 bluray player with a Panasonic BDT220. With the LG player I was able to play any of my home videos from the WHS Videos share over my wired gigabit network (not using DLNA).

Now, with the Panasonic I can still play any of my files (Mp4, Avi and M2ts) but higher bitrate (> 15Mbps) videos stutter. If I enable DLNA on my WHS 2011, I can stream without stuttering but can't play the Avis or M2ts files.

Since everything else is the same, I assume the file play from share problem is in the player. The player is still within the return period.

MY QUESTIONS
1. What do I need to look for, specification wise, in a bluray player that would enable it to play from my network share without stuttering?
2. Alternatively, is there a way to get the WHS DLNA to support Avi and M2ts files? Or is this a limitation of the Panasonic DLNA client?

PS
I am aware of products like Mezzmo and TVersity that can transcode but I would prefer not to get into transcoding if possible.
