I am trying to install Windows 2012 essentials and the Install keeps hanging at 80%. I have tried to reinstall 3 times and each time it hangs at 80%. I am doing a Migration not a clean install. I have bought Jim Clark's(essentials eBook) & Terry's(Window 8 Home Server) eBooks and decided that Essentials is the best replacement for me.
Background:
I currently have a Home Server 2011 which I use for Backup and Media streaming. I also have a windows server 2012 Hyper V server which I use to host VMs I use for Development. The Hyper V Host is also running AD DS, DNS. This enables me to reuse user accounts and services account on all the VMs.
Since Windows 2012 Essentials has to be the PDC I am trying to migrate the my current domain over to the Essentials Server. I do see that all the FSMO roles have transferred to the Windows 2012 Essentials Server.
I think it has something to do with DNS or security but I am not sure what to do next. I get a couple of different errors when I run DcDiag on the two Servers. I wasn't sure if the access errors was due to the install not finishing.
On the EssentialsServer I get that following 2 errors when I run dcdiag.exe
Testing server: Default-First-Site-Name\EssentialsServer
Starting test: Advertising
Warning: DsGetDcName returned information for \\HyperVServer.mydomain.local,
when we were trying to reach EssentialsServer.
SERVER IS NOT RESPONDING or IS NOT CONSIDERED SUITABLE.
Unable to connect to the NETLOGON share! (\\EssentialsServer\netlogon)
[EssentialsServer] An net use or LsaPolicy operation failed with error 67,
The network name cannot be found..
On the HyperVServer I get that following 2 errors when I run dcdiag.exe
