Hi,
I'm running SBS2011 with MSExchange 2010 as my mail solution. This is running as a VM.
When I came to install WSE2012, everything I could find with "SBS2011" and "WSE2012" in the title, talked about migrating SBS2011 to WSE2012. The problem with that approach is that WSE2012 will not host MSE and expects it to be on a second server. I don't have enough MSE experience to be confident of porting a live MSE to a new server.
At the moment then, I have installed WSE2012 as a new installation, which means I have the two running side-by-side but in diffferent domains SBS is "DOMAIN-NAME" and WSE is "DOMAINNAME".
Ideally, I'd like to demote SBS2011 to a secondary DC in the WSE2012 "DOMAINNAME" domain, but as I understand SBS2011 is not designed to run in this role.
Is the simplest solution here "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? - my mail works and WSE works.
In which case, I'd appreciate any observations on working with the email integration features of WSE2012, where the email source is on-premises MSE, but on a different domain.
Alternatively, I guess, set up a new MSE instance and restore the mail database from a backup of the existing (SBS) MSE.
Anybody got any suggestions on a way forward?
Thanks
