In my testing of WHS 2011 I see that, unlike v1, when you add drives you don't lose all of the data.
I am thinking that this may allow me to more easily transition my data from v1 to 2011.
If I prepopulate my Video files, Music and photos onto a new hard drive (by attaching that drive into my current WHSv1 server and copying the files over to this external drive) and then add this drive to WHS 2011 then how do get these files into the WHS default ServerFolders?
Let's say I plug in my new drive and it has the following folders:
e:\videos
e:\photos
e:\music
Would I use the dashboard to move the Videos folder to e: which would then create e:\ServerFolders\Videos and then move all of the content from my e:\videos folder to this folder? I imagine this will not take any time to "copy" since the files are already on the e drive, correct? Is there any downside to using this methodology?
Or should I start with the final destination names and create folders:
e:\ServerFolders\Videos
e:\ServerFolders\Photos
e:\ServerFolders\Music
And move my files onto these drives and then use the dashboard to move the Server Folders to E? Will WHS be ok with this or will it try to create these folders and therefore complain that they already exist?
