IIS/Website issues

I wasnt sure if I should create my own thread or just post here. Since it's not really bad forum necromancy, I decided here...

so I'm a little confused... Keep in mind, this is after allllll day of fiddling with it (by nature I'm a linux/apach server kinda guy).

I started by creating a new site in my IIS Manager. Site has the following bindings:

type:	Host Name: Port:	IP Address

http	  domain.com		   80	   192.168.x.x		  <--- My Internal Router IP (which is static)
http	   www.domain.com  80	   192.168.x.x

I then set the DNS settings provided by my registrar (godaddy)

Host	  Points To

@		  x.x.x.x		  <--- My External ISP Address (which is static)

Other than the A entry in my DNS settings, the domain is parked by the registrar and is not forwarded to anything.

I then restarted the IIS Server in the manager and did an IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS on my test PC (not the server).

now, when I go to http://domain.com i see the test index.html that states "Woohoo! Hosting on WHS in IIS Successful!!!"

HOWEVER

if I go to http://www.domain.com, it forwards to https://x.x.x.x(my external ip)/Remote/logon?ReturnUrl=%2fremote   (the address path that follows the xxxxx.homeserver.com)

wtf? did I do something wrong?

Tonight is literally my first swing at IIS and I'm so confused as to what to do next :*(

any help?
