I have a MediaSmart EX495. It is standard (from the factory) hardware. I have four total HDs, the 1.5 TB that came with it and 3 2TB drives in bays 2 - 4. It runs WHS V1 PP3.
Lately, it has been freezing overnight. I end up having to hard shut it down. On a few occasions I remote desktop in to find an error about Twonky crashing, so I disabled that. Still doing it. So I guess that wasn't it. I think it is something to do with the backups. But I checked the logs folder this morning:
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\Logs and I found some chkdsk_C_.log files. I foudn one for each drive letter and a couple it looks like for C. They all appear to have gone to completion except the one for C which seems to have only made it to 11%.
Could this be when it froze?
I was not aware that the server would run CHKDSK on its own. Did I inadvertently ask it to do this at some point?
Since it is freezing, is it trying to pick up and do it over each time causing a loop?
Is there anything else in these logs (or anywhere else) that could help me shed light on the freezing problem?
I attached the logs in case they shed any light.
Thank you.
