I just tried to start up one of my client computers and all it was do was produce the black screen with the blinking cursor. The last time I experienced this my boot sector had gotten messed up and I ended up installing a new hard drive since I didn't have a server backup at the time. Today when this happened I decided that it would be a great time to finally utilize my server backup and see how it works. Everything started out great and I was easily moving through the process until I reached the restore part then it repeatedly kept failing. Log had reported failed to initialize the vds with an error code. I was planning to remove the HDD and use my HDD dock to check out the disk only when I hit power the computer bios screen came back up and then the computer booted. I realized that prior to that I had had a flash drive plugged in that usually isn't in the usb hub when I boot up and that this was probably keeping the PC from staring now don't get me wrong while I'm glad that there is nothing wrong with my computer now I am slightly worried that if I had to restore that it wouldn't work. Does WHS 2011 have an issue restoring Windows 8 computers.
Also I am having an issue with two of my clients not successfully backing up at all one is an Asus Q200E which is a Windows 8 preinstall and the other is an Asus U50F which I clean installed Windows 8 on. I have five other clients that I have backing up successfully and 4 of those run Windows 8 so I know that isn't the issue and I doubt if the U50F uses uefi since it is a Windows 7 PC any suggestions on helping clear up either of these issues would be greatly appreciated.
