I'm attempting to backup my WHS to an external WD 2TB HD. I've been using this method for a year or so without issue. A month or so ago, my backups starting throwing this error below in the backup text notification surfaced in my Windows Home Console:
Failed to process file <filename> : The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
This error isn't thrown by all the files it attempts to backup - but a dozen or so files throw this error until the backup unsuccessfully completes.
I'm able to view these files (videos) by streaming them on my PC and they appear to be fine. No data corruption from this use case. Windows Media Player plays them just fine.
How do I proceed? Any ideas on what could be wrong?
