Hello all.
I have a bad situation here concerning a new WHS 2011 build.
Hardware:
Intel S1200KP ITX server motherboard
Intel Xeon E3 1225 Quad Core CPU
2 x 4GB Crucial ECC DDR3 DIMMs
1 x 500GB Western Digital Black SATA boot drive
3 x 2TB Seagate Constellation ES SATA drives
Lian Li PC-Q25B mini ITX cube case
Corsair 450 Watt power supply
Windows Home Server 2011 patched right up to date.
As can be expected from the above inventory listing, this server runs and performs like a dream, except when it comes to client backups.
The case includes a SATA "backplane" cage that can accommodate up to 5 standard 3½" hard drives, but this tiny motherboard only has 4 SATA connectors.
Upon OS installation the boot drive got divided into a 60GB C: boot partition and a 400+GB data partition (D:)
The three 2TB SATA Barracudas became drives E:, F: & G: respectively. So far, so good.
Now to the problem: The first two small client backups went smoothly and nearly filled up the D: partition.
I then started a backup of my main PC (<>4TB of data). It started fine, filled up drive D: by backing up the client's "System Reserved" and D: partitions and then failed with an "Incomplete" backup message and "Unsuccessful" status for drives C: & F:
It apparently refuses to avail itself of the combined 6TB of space on the Barracudas.
Any idea what's going on here? A solution would be most welcome.
