Whs 2011 Backups

OK, I previously had a WHS v1 server setup which I decommissioned a couple of years ago. I need to get a home server setup now, but with the advent of WHS 2011 I cant decide whether to stick with v1 or go and buy 2011 (already own WHS v1).
 
My only concern is how I can backup my files now that drive extender doesn't exist and without the pain of RAID. Does WHS 2011 have an alternative built in or would I need to purchase more third party software?
