I have an Acer Aspire H340L server which runs WHS v1. This was running fine for almost a year and a half. This December with the growing amount of important data I decided to try and backup to an online cloud based solution. I decided on crashplan unlimited mainly because it was recommended by a colleague. I read some wiki on crashplan saying it wasn't really supported but you could install on WHS. I tried that and it seemed to install and everything was ok for a day but then things started to go wrong. To begin with I couldn't rdp into my server. The acer has no VGA port so no way of attaching a monitor to it to find out what is going wrong. So I decided to hard boot, after a hard boot I could rdp, but then I couldn't access some shares mainly my photos and video shares. It would take a long time to respond etc.
After some googling, I checked the event logs to find loads of Ntfs related errors and was recommended to run chkdsk which I did by running this script, but although that checked d: it complained that c: was in use and would be checked the next time the server was rebooted. I tried this multiple times with the same issue. I finally decided to bite the bullet and decided to do a reinstall which I tried last night. The reinstall seemed to go though fine and I left the recovery process overnight, however when I checked this morning I had an error on my screen, I tried accessing my server and all shares were visible. I tried logging into my server again, but couldn't rdp Tried opening my photos share and it hung again
So now I'm not sure what to do, I think one of the discs is hosed but I'm not sure which one. I have 4x 640GB discs and the data is mirrored. The times when I could rdp (mostly immediately after a server reboot), the management console reported all discs as healthy. I'm lost now. I haven't done a backup in the last 4 months and loads of data has gone in there since then so I'll literally be screwed if I can't recover my server back up. Please help
