It is time to upgrade the hardware of an old XP client to something faster. I curently use an old XP machine for a HTPC. No need to buy a new OS when the XP OS works fine for a HTPC, right. So I built a new rig and thought I could just restore the old one to the new one.
I booted off the restore CD, loaded NIC drivers, and it still comes back and says it cannot find my server. I have double checked the cable, tried an add-in NIC card that is known to work and still no joy! The activity lights on the NIC's do not light up while searching for the server.
Oh yah, I did make sure the NIC was enabled in the bios.
What am I missing?
All replies are appreciated.
