Hi All.
Had a server back in the old days of WHS but it was slower than a tortoise on lsd. So now I am looking to get back in, as I have down sizes to a flat and need to down sizes CD & DVDs etc.
So I thought I will get back on board with you guys and see how WHS is doing! What do I find a total of confusion, more choice than a chocolate shop!
So:-
WHS 2011 is usable but has a 10GB limit and will be dead in 2-10 years ~£100
Windows server 2012 Essentials is a 2 CPU 64 bit no storage limit package ~£300-500
Windows 8 Pro is available to use and set up as a server package ~£100
Now I want to store documents, DVD and Music on there and use it for back ups for 1 Pc 1 laptop and a notebook!
So it looks like I have two choices Win8 and setting up or WS2012E at £400 (Ouch!) The build will be new, so for me it is the choice of front end that will decide the hardware.
So after all that the Question is this. "For a newbie, which is best?"
Cheers
