Hi all,
I just built my first home server using WHS 2011. I intend to use it as a media streaming and file serving/backup device and centralized storage location for all my media and important documents.
I bought 6x2TB HDDs and 1 SSD (for the OS). My intention was to use the HDDs like this:
HDD 1a backs up to HDD 1b
HDD 2a backs up to HDD 2b
HDD 3a backs up to HDD 3b
Instead, it seems I can only designate entire drives as "backup drives" and then WHS tries to backup all my "a" drives to wherever it sees space. The problem is that the potential 6TB of "a" space won't fit on a single "b" drive and WHS is throwing up warnings about limited backup drive space. It tells me that "adding additional drives will not solve the problem, it must be a larger single drive."
I realize I could use my RAID controller card to create a stripping array of the "b" drives and then backup to that but I'd rather not. I want 3 distinct backups to occur as above.
How can I do this?
Thanks
