Greetings,
I have an 5 years old desktop with Intel Dual core processor running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. I have one internal SATA port available. I do not want to purchase a new desktop at this time as mine is still running fine. However, I would like add 4 external HDD ranging from 1 to 4 TB such that I can copy files from one HDD to another simultaneously and hot-swappable. I do understand that I will need a 4 bay external enclosure or docking with eSATA and port multiplier. However, I don't know what to get for the internal. Do I need 1 to 4 SATA and 4 SATA to 1 eSATA port multiplier controller? if so, I will need to connect the available SATA port to 1x4 controller then connect the 4 SATA ports to the 4x1 controller? Any help to achieve my goal with the least spending (under $200) is greatly appreciated.
