WHS1 system, 1TB system drive refused to boot. Dropped it into a Win7 machine as a non-system drive so I could connect it to a monitor.
Upon boot, BIOS warned that the SMART drive system indicates the drive could die at any second. SpinRite confirmed this dire warning and directed me to backup any data RIGHT NOW. I did not perform any SpinRite operations; I disconnected the WHS drive from the Win7 machine and rebooted, then proceded to make enough room on the system for the data.
Booting again with the WHS System Drive as the secondary drive in th Win7 system, I opened the dying drive in Explorer and tried to copy files to the Win7 drive. No go - TeraCopy reports
Attempting a Windows Explorer copy yields
I've tried assigning ownership to my specific account as well as Admin accounts on the Win7 machine, but nothing seems to change the results. Anybody have any tips as to how I can attempt to copy the data?
