25 Essential Windows Home Server Projects Seems To Include Errors

First, I need to say I really love these books. They're what prompted me to install WHS 2011 in the first place.
But I've been having a really, really hard time getting one of the described projects to work. It's the Install a Wordpress Blog on Windows Home Server project.
After fiddling for several weeks now, I finally decided just to uninstall everything and start from scratch following the instructions in the book precisely. In past attempts, I've tried on my own to find workarounds, which then made later troubleshooting on this forum more difficult. So this time I'll just stop at each hangup where the instructions don't match up exactly with the experience.
According to the book, a prerequisite is the preceding chapters on installing php and mysql.
So, right off the bat, I can't get php up and running. I've installed the Web Platform Installer. But straight php is not included in its suite of products. According to the book, under Products > Frameworks, php should be listed.
But here's a screenshot.

There is something called php for WebMatrix. But as I discovered this weekend, WebMatrix is something totally different than what's described in the book. Moreover, despite it's being listed as "installed" (I can't seem to uninstall it), I'm not able to open the described php test page.
So is the book just mistaken? What's going on with this?
Thanks.
