Atheros Ar8131 Link Speed

Hello-
I was running WHS v1 and everything was working just great. Network speed was great, getting close to 100MB/s transfer speeds.

Last night I decided to install WHS 2011 to try it out. Wanted the better power management support and just better hardware support out of the box. I love how smooth the system seems to run with it but trying to transfer data over my network to the server is now *terrible*! I am only seeing 5-10MB/s.

I went into the driver settings for the NIC. I see that the only setting for link speed are 10Mb and 100Mb and Auto negotiate. It was set to auto-negotiate and there was no option to force a 1Gb speed. I went to the Atheros site and got the latest drivers but still no luck.

Anyone have any problem with with this network chip? I think it is causing me a problem in WHS2011 but it was fine in WHSv1.

I have seen this slow networking problem once on my WHSv1 but it was something I had caused by accidentally using just a plain old CAT5 cable instead of the CAT6 cables I am using all over now.

Here's my config:

CPU: C2Q Q6600
RAM: 4GB
DRIVES: 3x 1TB Samsung, 1x2TB Western Digital
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-E2SL (Rev. 2.0 with Atheros AR8131 NIC)
Video: Onboard Intel G31

Thanks!
Clocker
