This weekend I plan on changing my motherboard/cpu in my Whs v1. Before I do this, I would like to backup the 4tb of data on my shares just in case I need to start over again. I have two 2tb drives which I would like to use to backup the 4tb. My video share is 3tb, the rest are about 1tb.
Rather than connecting my extra 2tb drives to a desktop and manually moving data over lan, can I just connect them via usb and drag and drop or backup that way?
I have never done this but know you can backup shares this way, but what if a share is larger than the external usb drive?
What is the most common way to do this?
