I have a home built server. The client backups work fine. I have been doing data backups to my NAS and swapping drives, keeping one of them offsite.
For the server backup, I added a pluggable SATA drive bay to my server, hoping to get an image backup that would allow me to restart from a drive failure. When I tried to do a backup I received an error message saying the backup was "incomplete". System backed up, drive C (boot) was backed up, but drive D was unsuccessful. No detail on what went wrong.
When I looked at the SMART monitor it looked like the drive was too hot (mini ITX board, small form factor chassis) so I bought a USB 3.0 drive dock and plugged the drive in externally. Once again, the backup failed. Did not back up the D drive, and that is where the data is.
It got to 95% before it crapped out, the server only has a single 2TB drive.
Is there any kind of log that I can look at to dig into this?
