Hi,
I've got an Acer H340 that I've been using for several years as my backup appliance. Some time ago it would occasionally disappear from the network and I needed to physically unplug and replug the network cable to bring it back or sometimes shut it down completely. Sometimes it would come back by itself.
It's gotten worse with time. At this point it's constantly going up and down, mostly down. Although, much of the time it's visible and accessable (if intermittently) through the network directly (shared drives, etc.) but connectors display it as offline and I can't access it through the connector or through remote desktop.
Anyone know what would cause this? Is it most likely failing hardware or a software issue that could be repaired?
I'm planning to replace it with a Server 2012 Essentials machine but it will probably take me some time to set one up and I don't want to be without backups until then.
Thanks!
