First off i want to appologise in advance for my potential ramblings and cluelessness when it comes to servers, i'm just dipping my toes in as we speak.
I've got a HP N36L with WHS 2011 on the 250GB supplied drive and 2 x 2tb drives added in (looking to add a 3rd 2TB in a few weeks.
I've got 8GB Kingston memory added after pulling out the supplied 1GB.
I've got PC's around the home as well as a PS3, Xbox and also Apple TV (sorry). I want to setup a media server so all these can pull music and videos from the server, i'll also be storing some documents on the server too.
I have been looking to install itunes to do this. I've read that some people suggest installing programs on your server as a service? Is this what you would also suggest? Or should i set it up and schedule it to just start from turning on?
Also are there other software you could suggest i look at for serving my media?
Thanks,
Vector
Edit - Just been looking at serviio too after reading other threads on the forum. Would this be better? Confusion reigns.
