Total Newbie To Whs 2011, Former Hp 470 User, Need Help

I have been using HP Mediasmart servers for about six years, and my 470 motherboard recently passed away (RIP). Altogether, I have 14 HDD's (1.5-2 Tb each) that were part of my HP system.

Just built a brand new system (PC case, motherboard) and sucessfully installed WHS 2011 (OEM version with, of course, no documentation.

I am planning to transfer most of my data drive by drive (mostly videos and photos) to the equivalent shared folders on the new system, which currrently has a 500 Mb system drive and a new 2 Tb second drive.

I've been so spoiled (or ruined, maybe) by HP's non-transparent Home Server Console that I'm uncertain how to get the same ease of use out of WHS 2011. For example the HP system appeared to automatically distribute/balance files between HDDs so that shared folders appeared distributed on all HDD's simply by wiring in the new drive and clicking <add>.

It appears fight now that adding a drive to WHS 2011 designates if for a specific shared folder, rather than a "pool".

Anybody out there with the generosity and/or patience to help me navigate?
Or, can someone point me to a blog that suits my situation?
Add-ins that will accomplish making my WHS 2011 look and behave more like what I'm used to with HP?
