Hi all,
Novice here again.
I'm following the excellent WeGotServed step by step book. But I'm stumped on setting up my RAID Mirrored array. I'm using the HP ProLiant N40L, with WHS 2011.
I've managed to install the two WD NAS Red 2Tb drives I bought (see earlier posts). They're both formatted as NTFS. I've done nothing else with them as yet. I've got as far as right clicking to bring up the "pop up" menu which includes the Create New Mirrored Volume option. But the option is always greyed out. I simply can't select it. But there's nothing to explain why that would be the case. Screen grab attached, in case that gives any clues.
Any ideas? All suggestions or advice gratefully received!
Also ... while I'm at it, in searching for solutions to this problem, I've seen people suggesting installing additional software to monitor and manage the RAID array (I think that's what you call it - I'm learning on the job here!) ... Is this essential, and what should I download, from where, and how do I install it on my server?
Finally, on an unrelated matter, my home laptop runs on Windows 7 Home Premium - which I don't think works fully with WHS 2011. Is this sufficient reason for becoming a Windows 8 early adopter - to make full use of my new Home server??
All input appreciated. But the RAID problem is driving me potty - 'cos I don't want to start transferring data on to the server until I've got the RAID drives set up properly. Aaaargh,
Thanks,
Rob
