Windows 8 Partitions And Whs2011 Client Backup

Just had a few questions about windows 8 and the partitions it creates.

On my UEFI MSI laptop with factory installed windows 8, under disk management it shows 4 partitions. The first is a 600MB (?Recovery/win RE?) partition, followed by a 300MB system partition.  Next is the C drive partition, and at the end is the 14.92GB Recovery partition.

I noticed when setting up this client with WHS2011, the only partitions shown as being backed up are the 600MB, C Drive, and the 14.92GB recovery. Was kinda surprised that the 300MB partition wasn't even listed or offered to check off for backing up.

Last night, I decided to put an M500 240GB SSD drive in the laptop (I had originally removed the 750GB HDD and installed a M4 128GB SSD and a M500 240GB mSata).  I've used ezgig IV in the past many times to clone drives, even the WHS2011 OS drive from larger to smaller OS drives and never had an issue.  I downloaded the latest EZGig IV and set about cloning the drive.  I opted to manually set the partitions because doing so automatically basically doubles the size of every partition since I was doubling the size of the actual drive.  All I had to do was adjust the 14.92 GB recovery partition back down to 14.92 from ~29GB, then set the C drive partition to take up the rest of the space and this automatically set the 600/300 partitions back to their original size of 600/300 (as opposed to ~1200/600).  Just to relieve suspense here, it worked like a charm, and I reconfigured WHS2011 client backup for the new drive and it was the same 3 partitions offered to backup out of the 4 as it was when it had the 128GB drive (BTW, when I put that 128GB drive in, I used the MSI recovery software and created a USB key to install fresh to the new C/D drives, no cloning from the 750GB hdd).

Anyways, when EZgig launched, it not only showed the 128GB drive as having the 600/300/C/14.92GB partitions, it ALSO shows a 128MB partition that disk management doesn't show.  How can this be?  After cloning the 128GB drive to the new 240GB drive, it too retained the 128MB partition.  And while I was in the manual partition config section of EZgig, that 128MB partition was a partition that was unable to be resized, as if it were a locked partition, even to EZgig.

Does anyone know about this 128MB partition with windows 8, and also why the 300MB partition is listed or offered in the server client backup configuration?
