I've been playing about with windows home server 2011. We have five user accounts, and each user can access their folders via the launchpad on their machines, plus my daughter has tested remote connection via the net and that works too.
The main reason for setting up a server was so we could use a central calendar so that everyone in the family could see what events etc were happening before making arrangements that clashed. I've downloaded and installed sharepoint services SP2 (the free basic instrallation) and have set up a site. This works fine through a browser on the server, but isn't accessable from another machine on the network. Entering HTTP://<servername>:42220/default.aspx or simply servername:422220 on the remote machine juts times out.
I also tried adding this site to IISS manager but that didn't work.
Any comments or suggestions would be welcome. I would ideally like to add a direct link to the calendar so it appears on the launchpad on everyones PC to make things simple, is this possible ?
