Change Ports Used For Remote Access

Sorry if this has been asked already but I can't seem to find anyone asking what I'm looking for.

I bought a house a few months ago and I built a server with Server 2012 Essentials on it.  I have AT&T U-verse for my Internet and TV, I believe my modem/router is Motorola NVG510 but I can check tomorrow when I get home from a business trip.

I'm trying to setup the remote access/vpn so when I do travel for work I can still keep my system backed up and in-sync with everything else.  The issue I'm having is that no matter what I do I cannot open up port 443 to go to the server.  The u-verse router is always forwarding that port to the DVR for away-from-home DVR watching and guide access.  Based on what I have found, there is no way to change this aside from ditching that service.  I have tried everything I can think of including using a router behind the AT&T router to try and get around this without luck.  My first thought was delete the AT&T forwarding as I can live without remote access to that but it keeps re-adding itself (see this for proof of the symptom from another user: https://forums.att.com/t5/Features-and-How-To/Forwarding-port-443-for-WHS-conflict-with-connectToCiscoAP/td-p/3365983)

What I'm guessing I need to do is somehow modify the server so that instead of using 443 for the setup it could use say 10443 but I'm not sure how to go about doing that.  The other option, if someone knows how, is to change the AT&T router to point the remote access to my DVR to a different port.

Is anyone able to help point me in the right direction on getting this setup?  I'd greatly appreciate your help.
