During backup of my shared folders to an external drive (long process over 700 gig of data) I get the following message for quite a few files.
"The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters"
There are enough of these files (about 70 or so) That I don't want to go and fix them. Some are in iTunes, some are ebooks etc. They are also spread among 3 different users.
Of course I didn't have this issue with my linux server, but I really like my Aspire H340.
The external drive is a segate go 1TB formatted to NTFS.
I really like WHS and the ability to backup all my home computers easily, but If I have to struggle with backing up to external drive I will just have to say MEH. That with the fact that it is not easy to backup the system drive. all that time tweaking and setting up add ins.
Oh, and I do have powerpack 3
Any suggestions? So far I am loving this little server and after I get my offsite backup strategy working I will be a happy camper.
Thanks!
